Precinct Skate Shop has been an institution on the Coast for over six years, with a loyal customer base and extensive product range. Founded by mates Trent Bonham and Julian Lee, Precinct was born from frustrations they both had with their local skate shop scene, opening the store to fill this niche in the area.

Both Trent and Julian are respected skaters in the industry with deep roots in the Gold Coast’s skateboarding scene.

“Our goal was always to represent skateboarding to our local community with the best advice & products possible.”

With a curated aesthetic, Bonham and Lee have really delved into the head of their customer – the store itself is a skateboarder’s Meccah. It is easy to see that all product in store is there after well thought consideration.

“Our personal style & tastes reflects on everything we choose to stock.”

Both heritage and upcoming brands sit side by side in store.

It’s Precinct’s contribution to the local skate scene that makes it so unique. The annual ‘Easter Hunt’ is legendary, with the locals searching through Mermaid Beach for hidden product and clues, with Bonham and Lee sourcing product from skate distros all over Australia. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the upcoming hunt!

Their reputation on the Coast sees them as the go-to for skate related events organised on the Goldy. Backing HOTA’s Concrete Culture, along with DC Shoes and Kingswood Creative for their iconic “Plaza Days” – this event still has people talking. Fingers crossed this event can return in 2021.

Bonham and Lee have an eye for upcoming talent, sponsoring locals including Indi Russell, Adam Pirihi, Mitch Morrison, Brandon Kier, Jim Perry, Noah Bowden, Zephyr Still & Maddie Pease. Check out their first full length video “The Wildlife” on Thrasher to see the quality of skaters hitting the Coast.

Precinct is the definition of a destination store. It is well worth the trip purely for the nostalgia and history on offer by the owners and their loyal customers, who will probably be sitting on the park bench in store ready for a chat.
