It had been too long between Jams in Brisbane, so we were stoked to be able to organise the “Muzza Mashup” at our favourite local park, Murarrie!
Partnering with Cr. Lisa Atwood and Pavement Skate School, Brisbane City Council we created a great day for skaters of all ages and abilities!
The morning focus was on the grommies and their families with Pavement Skateboard Coaching offering free beginner workshops that were booked out well in advance. There were competitions for 10 & Under, 16 & Under and the Girls with plenty of prizes and giveaways. The level of skating from the younger generation was super impressive!
Things got pretty wild in the Bowl Jam, where the Muzza Locals mixed it up with skaters from all over Queensland in a ‘Cash for Tricks’ all-in jam.
The Opens Division was the main event and saw some incredible skating. The Final came down to the Top 5 from the Heats and eventually it was Mike Lawry who used his local knowledge to narrowly edge out Joel McIlroy for the $500 first place cash prize.
All in all it was an incredible day and it really showed just how alive and well skateboarding is in Brisbane! Thanks to everyone that came out and have a great time. See you at the next one!
